We will provide a receipt for items accepted for collections. The receipt may be used to show a donation for tax purposes. We are unable, however, to assign an appraised value for donated items. You may wish to refer to IRS Taxpayer Information Publications 526, Charitable Contributions, and 561, Determining the Value of Donated Property, for assistance in deciding what value to claim for your donations. These publications can be found at www.irs.gov.

Staff will determine if the donated materials are to be added to our collections.

Materials not chosen for addition may be included in the Book Sale items on the first floor of the library and available to the public for a suggested minimal donation.

Examples of items that will not be accepted for donation:
(The library will not take items that cannot be sold easily.)

• Magazines, including National Geographic, loose or in bound volumes
• Encyclopedias
• Law Books
• Textbooks
• Computer software
• Musty, mildewed, soiled or damaged items
