GASP is a process initiated in the hospitality industry which is used to assist in creating a brand or an identity.
Once the identity is defined, this identity or definition is translated into a cohesive concept. This concept is unique to a particular library, product or company. This concept is then used to guide all decision making in creating spaces, selecting colors, lighting, materials, integrating interior furnishings, graphics, style of services, and programs.
In short, by defining the desired characteristics of a library personality, decisions regarding space planning, furnishings, and services adhere to a specific integrated vision. This vision or identity serves as a key concept that creates focus in decision making.
The West Palm Beach Public Library utilized the GASP (Graphics, Ambiance, Style, Presentation ) process to define its concept, undergo an interior makeover and invigorate its programs and services in a cohesive manner.
